This image of a coin with a discus thrower from Kos reflects an ancient silver triple siglos coin of Kos, Caria, ca. 470-450 B.C.E., in the Numismatic Museum, Athens (NM 1903/4 KΘ’ 1). The discus thrower, with a tripod to him, appears on the obverse or front of a coin issued for athletic games celebrating Apollo. The name of the island of Kos appears in Greek letters at right.
